My classroom is built around community. Students know that they are safe in my room and that this place we spend so much time in is their learning “home.” It is my desire to continue to build community through establishing a family feeling in middle school. In order to achieve this, we must raise enough funds to replace our old furniture. Creating “family ties” in a middle school classroom allows all students to learn and excel within a comfortable setting! Help me, help my kids. Over time my couch that I purchased along with some chairs, to replace the stiff, cold environment of desks has started to break. I have selected 2 new couches, 2 chairs, and a table. Replacing my old items will allow us as a class to continue to enjoy a 'learning home" instead of a cold environment. Having a classroom that feels like home to students enriches their learning experience and allows relationships to built. They feel safe, comfortable, and look forward to being in my classroom. Lessons can be taught in a more intimate environment and allow for deep discussions to take place. This type of setting also allows for collaborative work among students and small group learning to breakdown standards at a middle school level. Out of fifty middle school classrooms, mine is very unique. My students are always focused and stay that way because of the environment created through non-traditional furniture. Receiving funds to replace my furniture that is starting to break would bring smiles to my students faces. Please consider being a difference maker in education, be part of the change!
