While all children can seem particular about their likes and dislikes, many children with autism will be so severely affected by their sensory preferences that it interferes with their normal, everyday functioning with over-responsiveness or under-responsiveness to sensory stimuli. Wobble chairs and scooper chair rockers options will help my students wiggle while they learn. Also, a library with a book case that displays all of our books will help students find books easily. Having books that sparks the interests of my students will have a tremendous impact on their overall engagement. Although they all have autism, their skills differ, speech and language disorders, emotional disorders, behavior disorders, and learning disabilities. The donations for this project will improve my classroom by reducing the amount of behavioral issues, because I will be able to provide the appropriate stimulation that my students need, but cannot voice, due to their disabilities.
