Each day, students come to school knowing that they play an integral part of a tight-knit community that I consider their "home away from home." Much of the learning that my children do at school is done in our gathering space on the floor. This is a special time where students get to engage and collaborate closely with one another and help each other thrive! Through thoughtful partnerships or whole group discussions, students assist in their peers' learning both academically and socially, in more ways than you could imagine. In order to provide a comfortable space in the classroom where we spend much of our day together, I would love to get a soft area rug that is large enough to fit 20 third grade students. This will be important for students to feel as though they are a family here at school and they will become closer and more familiar with myself and each other. I would love to see my children as comfortable sitting on the floor as they are anywhere else in the classroom. I want to ensure the rug is plenty big so that no child is left out. This purchase will enhance my classroom environment, which will in turn promote positive student and teacher relationships school wide.
