I have requested several phonics and sight word games to help with reading fluency. We have a huge language barrier in our school. We are 90% hispanic so the majority of our students struggle with basic sight words and phonics. Most of our parents do not speak English or do not work with their children at home so school is the only place they receive reading practice. The supplies I have requested will boost our reading skills and take us to the top. We will be using these games during small groups with the teacher and our literacy centers. The manipulative games will help with letter recognition, blending sounds and putting words together. We will be using the pillows to create a fun reading station to make reading more enjoyable and exciting. They will also match our classroom colors. Which makes the environment that much better. Our headphones are all getting twisted up in cords and not working well. Some are just static. So the cordless headphones are going to cut down the time I spend untangling them and the kids tripping over them. This will also prevent an accident!! All of the items will build social skills such as working together in teams, sharing ideas, taking turns and discussing topics together.
