Last year, I started a small ensemble band with my scholars after school. We grew together as they mastered caring for and practicing their instruments. From the beginning of the year to the end, my scholars had went from beginners to playing tunes way beyond expectation. Our band is a family, and our foundation is through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Even when we wanted to give up because things got tough, these scholars still CHOSE to show up and make music together. Teaching these students reignites my passion for teaching music and give it a whole new meaning. My scholars need to be given the opportunity to hear what a real concert band sounds like. By donating to our project, you will be giving opportunities to many of my scholars who have been aspiring percussionists and wish to pursue learning the art of playing in a rhythm section. My scholars LOVE the drums, but are only used to hand drums. You will be putting concert quality instruments into the hands of students who may not have been given the chance to otherwise.
