Students who are moving are students who are learning. My students love to bounce and move! Recently I bought a few stability wobble cushions that represents the way an exercise ball would feel and my students love it! I have had several tell me they concentrate better using these special seats, which is why I want to replace my traditional seating with these exercise balls. We love to move and need movement to help us focus and do our very best in school. I want my students moving while learning and I want them to take charge of their learning. Research shows that sitting still in a chair for long periods of time decreases concentration. When our bodies are moving our brain retains more information, especially for those children that suffer from ADHD. Third grade is very challenging. Students learn how to become responsible and efficient with the materials and concepts they must learn in order to be successfully in upper grades. Using these special seats will not only help them focus, but will help build their core strength and encourage movement while learning. I plan to use these seats to give my students options they need to ultimately be successful. Keeping them active and healthy while learning is my goal and I can't wait to accomplish this goal!
