We regularly practice for that unforeseen emergency situation. Understandably, a number of our students experience uneasiness and even fear as we try to prepare them for all types of emergencies. We would like to make our students aware of the fact that we do everything we can to make sure that they are well taken care of in all situations. Having "go bags" for our students would not only provide us with a few of the emergency items that we might need, but would also ease just a bit of the apprehension of students when we do emergency drills. Examples of some things that we would like to have in the bags would be crayons, paper, books, and some small game type activities that would help to keep the children occupied. The hope is that focusing on what they are doing would keep them from being as fearful during drills and possibly during an emergency. We would like to have the supplies that would provide not only emergency care, but also items that would occupy our students in the event that we were faced with a prolonged incident. We think this would be especially beneficial with our youngest students.
