The recorder had been lost from our curriculum for 4-5 years and the current students had no idea we used recorders in music class. Oftentimes they would tell me their brother or sister played one, or they had one at home. \r\n\r\nBringing the recorders out for the first time was such a joy and fun experience. I told them that if they didn't follow my recorder rules then I would have to send their recorder to \"recorder jail.\" You could have heard a pin drop as I was handing out the recorders!! They were so excited to play they didn't even jeopardize their chances even once. \r\n\r\nOur first lessons have been filled with joy and music-making. As of today, many of my classes can perform up to 5 notes on the recorder. I am utilizing a program called \"Recorder Karate\" and the students are very motivated to earn their \"belts\" to tie on the bottom of their recorder. In addition, because it is the holiday season, we began learning \"Jingle Bells.\"\r\n\r\nI am so excited to see where our recorder journey will take us. I couldn't have done this without your support. The students and myself are having such a great time with their instrument. They will make memories that will last their entire lives. And, I do hope many will use this as a springboard to learn a more advanced instrument in band or orchestra.","fullyFundedDate":1725910584840,"projectUrl":"project/recorders-the-nostalgic-first-instrumen/8438654/","projectTitle":"Recorders!
