Reading is a huge part of a child's success! My students are expected to have a book that they are currently reading at all times. When they are finished with the book they are required to take an Accelerated Reader test over the book. This allows me to check for reading comprehension and also track the student's reading level. I currently have one student computer in my classroom. This makes it very difficult for students to have access to online books (which I already have accounts for), a book check out app (already created but can't access) as well as AR test access. I have 15 children competing for access to one computer. It limits their access to all the online books I have to offer as well as how quickly they are able to take a test. I would also like to create a library check out system. I have access to this but would like to use an iPad mini as a check out tool. The students would still use this iPad for the activities mentioned about in addition to the library check out. This capability will provide an exciting way to see how busy our readers are and create an environment where they encourage each other to track how much reading is taking place.
