Overfelt is an urban high school in one of the most at-risk neighborhood in northern California. The Overfelt community faces tremendous poverty and high crime rates. The Overfelt community neighborhood also has the highest crime rate in San Jose, and the City of San Jose has identified this community as a "gang hot spot". Despite all of these challenges, the Overfelt community continues to thrive and is able to overcome many of these obstacles. Through the compassion of generous donors, I hope to provide my students with a meaningful education where going onto college isn't a dream--but a reality.
