I teach third grade in a small, rural school. My students participate in an exciting activity each year called Junior Genius. They choose a topic that they are interested in and learn as much as they can about it. It's a wonderful opportunity for them to learn research skills. I teach them how to take notes and write a report in their own words. Then, they present their research to the class and make a display for the whole school to see. This is a very motivating activity for all of my students.
