Our classroom library currently contains various picture books, but few on the student's reading levels. As a first year teacher at a brand new school, accumulating resources takes time and can be quite the financial hardship. Reading books containing text on the student's levels, will help them become more confident, fluent readers. They will feel accomplished reading a book independently, recognizing and being able to sound out many of the words. They will be able to focus on comprehending the text, which will help strengthen their skills as emergent readers. Having opportunities to read books on their levels, will boost their confidence as readers which will help instill a love of reading in each and every one of them.
