In my Electronics Technology class students learn not just the theoretical material but also develop hands-on skills needed to become successful technicians or future engineers. One of the most important skills learned by my students is soldering- a special process for making connections of electronic components. Soldering requires good quality tools because they make a big difference in a project outcome. My students will use these soldering stations to practice soldering by assembling small circuit board kits and to build their own exciting electronic projects as their skills improve. Every year, my juniors and seniors have an assignment to select, plan out, and to build a project of their choosing. We have built things like audio speakers, robotic cars, arcade games, Tesla coils, home automation systems, magnetic levitation devices, and taser guns. The new soldering stations will be one of the most important tools at students' disposal while they work on their next amazing project.
