In Kindergarten, one of the most important skills a child learns is to read. In order to foster a positive love for reading, our class needs hands on manipulatives to use during our Reading and Phonics centers to strengthen our phonics and understanding of words. By providing hands-on activities, the students will be able to explore letters, sounds, words, and sentences. These supplies will be very supportive and engaging for my struggling learners. With your generous donation, you will be allowing students to engage in activities that will foster a love for learning that will follow them for the rest of their academic career. The magnetic word building boards will be used every day to help students learn to build words using their sounds. The set will allow hands-on and engaging activities for children during center time. The sight words activities will give students practice in recognizing and reading high frequency words. These are words they will have to memorize. It can be a difficult task for Kindergarteners. These center activities will help give students meaningful experience with the words they need to know. The magnetic letters will be interchanged with the snap together blocks for a phonics center to work on beginning, middle, and ending sounds. We can also use these supplies to blend and segment words. These activities would help my students become successful readers.
