My first-grade students are eager to improve their reading skills so that they can read, in their words, "more and more AND MORE!" Having access to Kindle Fire tablets in the classroom will enable students to participate in a partnership with an innovative learning Online Application program that designs individualized activities for children to develop their phonemic awareness, decoding, and fluency skills based on their progress and performance levels throughout the year. The donations for this project will support all students' unique development into fluent, expressive readers with expansive vocabularies and empower them to feel increasingly confident as learners in and outside of the classroom. In addition, when given the skills and strategies that will be established through reading tasks on these tablets, students will be able to work more independently during reading workshop and when completing reading logs at home. Finally, the 13 Kindle Fire Tablets will be an exciting addition to our classroom and will surely light a FIRE under my students, motivating them to become more engaged readers!
