The Chromebooks I'm requesting for my first graders will allow them to get a head start in, and stay ahead in 21st Century skills. Specifically, they will use them to practice critical reading and math skills, learn how to conduct research online and to become more comfortable with technology. Our school has found that Chromebooks are perfect for first graders because of their small size, ease of use and simplicity. Their little hands and fingers are able to handle the small sized Chromebook much more easily than a regular laptop. The specific Chromebook I'm hoping to purchase for my students are "ruggedized" and water resistant. We will, of course, take good care of them, but accidents do happen with six year olds and I feel these extra sturdy Chromebooks will be the best and longest-lasting choice.
