Hello! I am a Biology and AP Environmental Science teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in Richmond, CA. While I love science, it is my goal to also bring social justice, history of science, and literacy into my classroom while not faltering on science content material. There are many students who say they don't like or care about science, but there is a reason behind it—underrepresented communities have been told over and over that they don't belong in the field of science. Simultaneously, the fact that people of color being mistreated in the name of science and that many scientific discoveries would not have been possible without people of color is erased. Teaching not only science, but also social sciences ABOUT science, is important in providing a holistic science education to young people of color. Thank you so much for your support to bring these goals to my classroom!
