Our classroom is in need of comprehensive reading centers. The supplies in our cart will help us to uncover the meanings of "unknown" words using multiple strategies. The comprehension games are an excellent and fun way for us to work towards our state test goals and our bingo games will ensure that we enjoy our "Friday Fun" in an educational way. We will use these materials during whole class lesson, small group work and independent practice each day. The Hamilton Audio Visual Six Personal CD and Cassette Listening Center comes equipped with headphones and a CD/cassette player that will enable a group of six students at a time listen to chapter books as they follow along with their own copy of the book. They will then be able to ask and answer questions to demonstrate their understanding of the text. The Context Clues Listening Center will help the students to define difficult vocabulary words to help deepen their comprehension of texts and prepare them to move up to new guided reading levels. The Close Reading Comprehension Center, Nonfiction Reading Comprehension Practice and Reading Comprehension Practice cards will allow students to read short passages and asses comprehension through multiple choice and short response questions. These practice reading cards will also help prepare the students to take their first state assessment. The Multiplication, Context Clue and Main Idea Bingo sets will be used during "Friday Fun" to help reinforce what we have learned in a fun interactive way. Our class S.M.A.R.T. reading goal for this school year is to the discover meanings of a variety of new vocabulary words. These items will help us reach this goal.
