Last year our first grade team started a recess LEGO Robotics Club with our first-graders! This was such a hit! These additional sets will allow more students to be able to participate as they explore and create! The WeDo 2.0 Lego Robotics set comes with a curriculum package that covers life, earth, space, and physical sciences along with engineering. This will help address the growing demand for teaching science, technology, engineering and math within the classroom. Our first-grade team would love for more students to be able to experience the wonder of creating their first robot! Whether our students are using these LEGO WeDo kits in the classroom or as part of our recess time Lego Robotics Club, our students are engaged in hands-on, exciting, engaging exploration! This project is part 4 of 8. We have also requested two replacement parts kits. Our students are working together, asking questions, and solving problems on a whole new level. They have conversations full of discovery and wonder! They share ideas and help each other as they make scientific observations based on their own exploration. I love the pure squeal of amazement when they get the robot to move! Using LEGO's ensures they stick with the problem until they find a solution. This is the power of an inspirational and engaging scientific tool such as the LEGO WeDo 2.0. kits. This program is suitable for children with a range of abilities and that is what our diverse population of kids require. By having to control a robot and seeing what goes wrong, students learn what they can and can’t do. This builds perseverance as they work together to solve a problem that at first, they could not figure out! They are limited only by the limits of their imagination!
