I teach rising freshman and students retaking Algebra 1 CP at Ashley Ridge High School in Summerville, SC. This is my fourth year at ARHS, and my 19th in education overall. I also teach a supplemental course, Math Essentials, that assists students in being able to have extended time, resources, and individualized instruction to help them master Algebra 1. My passion for Algebra 1 instruction has led me to teach the subject in both middle and high schools my entire career. I see this course as the gateway to exposing students to a solid foundation in mathematics that will expose them to various careers in mathematics, science, and engineering. A strong foundation in Algebra 1 is as important as learning the first year of a foreign language. It is the foundation upon which all other high school and college math courses are based.
