School supplies that students bring are typically for the general education classroom. Unfortunately, that leaves departments such as Special Education short on some basic resources. Special Education students come to the Resource Classroom for a set amount of time that goes by too fast. Sometimes the 'simple task' such as signing in and passing out materials can take an extended period of time that we do not have to spare. By funding these Individual Student Portfolios you would help save a significant amount of instructional time and allow students to easily see the progress they have made throughout the year. Saving time and allowing students to constantly see their progress will help motivate my students and give parents a view into their child's school day. These binders may seem simple, but would make a huge difference in the learning of my students!
