Our classroom is in desperate need of quality non-fiction books that will help us understand the impact of events and people on our history as Americans. We also love working in literature circles with our peers to help us better understand the text and to evaluate other opinions about the events and the books. We have history books, but they do not tell the entire story. We want to be able to dig deeper into significant historical events in American History. We want to be able to explore the impact some people have on our great nation. We cannot understand our history as Americans until we can explore it better. We are hungry for knowledge, we just do not have the means to do so. We are a poor school in a school district who has budget struggles. There is not money for the extras, like supplemental literature that will help us to develop a better understanding of history and science. These non-fiction books will help us to do so.
