This will be our second year participating in the 100 mile club. Last year, my students had so much fun tracking their miles and earning their prizes. At our school each student is challenged to run or walk 100 miles throughout the school year. They receive prizes at 25, 50, 75 and 100 miles. They love it and it really gets them thinking about their fitness. Last year it was very hard to keep track of their miles. Students ended up walking/running more miles than they could record because we had no way of knowing how many miles they accumulated throughout the school day. Having a pedometer will not only allow my students to reach their goals faster, but it will also be a great visual that will get them more motivated. My hope is that having a class set of pedometers will not only be motivating for my students at school, but also motivate them to continue their new love of fitness at home.
