My students are unique students who are working on overcoming extremely challenging circumstances. Outside of school, the students face many circumstances outside of their control such as homelessness, foster care, abandonment, and extreme poverty. In addition, to the external extenuating circumstances, these students face academic challenges often from the impact of their lives outside of school. My students have experienced so much academic defeat and failure when attempting to complete grade-level coursework they are losing motivation for school. Winona’s vision is to help “Every kid, Every day”. I want to uphold this vision and provide all my students with the opportunity to access the content in their classrooms while we continue to develop strategies to help them overcome the difficulties impacting their academic success.
