Many of my 6th Graders were already reluctant readers before Covid hit. Reading through a computer screen is not the same as holding a favorite book in your hands. Sadly, some of these students see reading as the first stage of boring assessments. I want them to discover that reading is fun! The students have been learning the elements of graphic novels, reading the few that we have available and are currently writing and illustrating their own short graphic novels. These books will become part of our traveling book bag drop off collection that puts real books into eager hands.
