Over the summer, as I was thinking about my upcoming year I started looking for ways to help special education kids succeed in middle school. I came across some articles on ways to let kids move in the classroom. I purchased some sets of bouncy bands for my classroom. I was not sure what to expect. Over the last two years most all of my middle school students love the bouncy bands. My students not only have difficulty with academics but also with social and emotional things. I have used several things to help but am always looking for other way to help them. Often times, they need a place to go and some time to get their emotions under control. My goal is to continue to help them to help themselves cool down. . Sometimes a snack will do the trick other times it is a stress ball or a liquid timer that helps the kids. Hopefully we can reduce the number of office referrals and out of school suspensions they're getting.
