Access to technology is crucial for all students especially students who have learning disabilities. My students are required by law to utilize the same books and have access to the same curriculum as their same age peers. With no student computers available in our classroom it is difficult for them to have access to tools that would greatly improve their education and make their life easier and level the playing field. My students are assigned to many different classrooms in all content areas throughout the school and with over 47 students who depend upon me to be successful in school, communication is crucial. This technology helps with communication with staff, assists with student IEP meetings, help the students gain access to the latest technology and become adept in using this technology. We are currently using Microsoft 365 throughout the district and we do not always have access to technology and as I move I need instant access to information to help my students. We would use this technology for translation, communication, books on tape, SAT prep, MCAS prep, career exploration, and so many more things.
