My students need extra assistance with phonological awareness and number sense. More specifically, the sounds letters make when put into words and making relationships between numbers. Understanding content is a struggle for some students that spend a majority of their earliest language development learning in Spanish. Learning these skills will ensure their preparedness for 2nd grade. The technology in our school is scarce. With iPads in my classroom, I will be able to put them on programs such as Istation and Zearn that give them one-on-one explicit guidance, helping get them towards the major leaps they will take as a first grade student.
