Students in my class have been away from our classroom and school libraries for over two months. Their local island library has been, and continues to be, closed during this time too. My students need interesting, high-quality, beautiful books in their hands to keep up their learning and enjoyment of books as they head into at least 3 more months away from school! New books will keep them happily engaged in the coming months. Reading common books over the summer, and being able to discuss them over Zoom, will also help them stay connected to each other, while remaining physically separated.
