The materials and supplies I'm requesting will support the gardens that my third graders plant and foster. These gardens host both flowers for beautification of our school and vegetables for students to eat. Our science curriculum is based around the life cycle of plants, but unfortunately, the science kit supplies are so limited that the learning experience itself becomes limited. Currently, we start our plant seeds in April where there is limited sunshine from our window space which results in spindly, unhealthy plants. With these grow lights, all of our plants will get the light support they need to not only survive, but thrive. In the fall, when students return for the following school year, the plants students started in the spring are in full bloom and ready to harvest. This project allows students to see an idea come to fruition and come full circle.
