In this Secondary English classroom, we strive to bring the idea of community and the necessity of curriculum together in one place for ninety class meetings each school year. By bridging the contemporary with the canon and by introducing a multitude of outside voices to enhance our instruction and sharing, we work diligently to become more than a classroom in trying to become more of a learning community with a lead learner and the learners who come into the room for the new school year. As Kylene Beers has been noted to say, "The smartest voice in the room IS the room." We recognize the importance of open sharing and conversation. We are a working classroom in the same way that a job site would be a working place. By inviting our students to read more than ever before. . .our students in this classroom ARE reading. More than ever before. We welcome you to be a part of our room and we thank you for your donations!
