The materials will provide students an opportunity to enhance their world views, sharpen their understanding of what constitutes as "good" literature, mirror their own humanness, improve their self-esteem, and challenge the status quo. Inclusive literature has a specific and valuable purpose: it can help students become more accepting of individual differences. I plan to decenter narratives that are eurocentric with the chosen texts because students are already bombarded with enough literature that is white-centered throughout their schooling. Broadening the landscape of acceptable texts that are intersectional through (race, sex, gender, class, ability) will enhance my students' world views and make them more compassionate and inclusive human beings. I have seen the positive effects of providing more choices and the best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
