My students rely heavily on their kinaesthetic intelligence to learn new concepts in science. By having them conduct a water quality investigation using microscopes, of local streams they will grasp new ecology concepts such as habitat diversity and biodiversity as well as water chemistry concepts that help them understand environmental issues. When we conduct a water quality investigation, the students measure the physical, chemical, and biological components of a stream. They then evaluate their results, study the watershed and land use of the region, and form explanations to their findings. They then provide recommendations which will improve or maintain stream water quality.
