The iPads and protective cases I am requesting will be used to create a learning center where students who do not speak English and struggle with dyslexia can receive support. Listening to a story or instructions read out loud will increase their own fluency within the English Language. A significant piece of improving literacy is improving their ability to understand and comprehend what they have read. Listening to instructions throughout various academic programs will teach students that people read differently and provide opportunities to recognize diversity in verbal skills, thus increasing their own fluency. The majority of these students do not have English language support at home to complete homework and read out loud. This will encourage them to have reading courage.
