In order to learn about different cultures and backgrounds we often turn to reading. I read aloud books, we have guest readers, the students read, and we use a reading app on our Ipads. We use our Ipads daily to listen to reading. My students love to listen to a variety of stories that are available to them. This allows them to listen to a story that is spoken fluently. This is an important aspect when teaching kindergarteners to read. They need to hear what good readers sounds like while they are reading aloud. Using an Ipad is an excellent tool to help them hear stories. Currently we have headphones that are attached using a jack. The headphone jack often pops out while the students are listening to their stories. This causes a disruption for that student and for the classroom. Having wireless headphones will solve this problem. We will be able to seamlessly work on the Ipad while others complete their class work.
