As a reading specialist, I serve students who are struggling with reading skills; particularly fluency and reading comprehension. These skills are vital to a student's ability to succeed in any classroom. The reading materials I am requesting will empower my students to develop their fluency and comprehension skills while helping them to develop a love for reading. The requested texts were carefully selected in order to best serve the unique needs and challenges of middle school students. My vision is to empower students to achieve academically by developing and strengthening their reading skills. Having access to a wide variety of engaging, leveled books is absolutely essential to the success of the reading specialist services at our Middle School. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to effectively read and retain information from different types of text, including works of fiction and non fiction.
