I am asking for a class set of the book, Wonder. This book is about a student with a severe case of a genetic birth defect who is attending his first days of school... at a middle school! My sixth grade students will be attending their first days of middle school. I will use this book to launch a project about empathy and help build a classroom culture that will span the length of the year. The impeccable relatedness between the characters in the story and my students will help foster a learning environment that can be shaped from literacy, shared experiences, in depth discussions, and empathy.
