I worked as a Para-educator for 10 years at my local neighborhood school assisting children with severe disabilities. During this time, I decided to return to school to obtain my teacher degree. I was very fortunate that during my senior year of college I was offered an intern position in a first grade classroom. This provided a great opportunity to begin my teaching career and to build upon my instructional processes. At the end of my intern position, I was offered a permanent teaching position as a half day kindergarten teacher and a half day reading intervention teacher working with the first through third grade students. Now, that I have my own classrooms I am excited to apply my teaching knowledge towards strengthening my students reading abilities by providing differentiated classroom centers that allow my students to develop and grow in their academic abilities.
