I have selected iPad Minis and associated equipment to provide my students with the opportunity to use technology to foster exploration in their journey as emergent readers. In literacy stations, iPads foster equal access to books. Non-readers and readers alike can use iPads to appreciate rich and engaging text through both print and audio books. This technology will be used to foster classroom engagement, as students can participate in shared reading followed by interactive tasks that promote discussion, questioning, and publishing. Students work together to create written content, they record one another as they read, they can take pictures of their work, and they can share their work with others in the classroom. IPads can be used to tailor instruction in our small groups. Whether students focus on handwriting, phonics, or chapter books, we have a new modality for learning at our fingertips. The use of this platform will continue to evolve as these young readers grow!
