Students in the dual immersion programs have a great opportunity to learn another language, but some of the non-core subjects tend to suffer because of time. I am creating a Woman Scientist of the Month in my English classrooms, to not only give the students wonderful, inspiring women in STEM fields to read about, but to have hands on projects to get a feel for different STEM subjects. This project with iPads and Ozobots is to reinforce the month about Grace Hopper. As we learn more about her life and accomplishments through Guided Reading, students will have time during independent learning centers to try out coding. Our country is in need of more students excited about STEM and I hope to do my part by inspiring as many 3rd graders as I can!
