The three Dash and Dot kits will be used every day in our gifted math classes and with your donation, all classes will eventually also have access to this technology through collaboration in the regular classroom. I already have the iPads to download the needed software, I just need the Dash and Dot kits to teach the engineering and coding sequences to the students. They are very motivated by this hands on type of activity. With the transition to Common Core mathematics, students have been given larger, real-world problems that require technology at an earlier age. Introducing STEM products and coding activities will increase student understanding of real world math and science and hopefully get a head start into the world of engineering. During this crucial year, the focus can be on learning mathematics and science. Giving low-income students access to new technology is an investment in their future. These kits will also allow students to tackle larger and more complex math problems, which will prepare them for college-level learning and hands on work.
