As a public school teacher, we are constantly trying to emphasize literacy and comprehension in every class, including science. Often times, finding good books and articles is hard to find for science classes, especially ones that can get the students engaged and excited. "The World is Blue" is going to give my students a look into explorations done by Sylvia Earle, the first female chief scientist at NOAA. This will give them a chance to connect and apply what we learn in class to our real world marine environments. By giving them a book that is not only rich in content but also a first person recount of many first time discoveries, students will be engaged and enthralled by this book.
