The different options for seating will encourage my readers to remain focused on the adventures in their texts. Currently we have rug areas, desks, and chairs. Also as part of our social emotional curricula, we keep a 'Peace Corner' in the classroom for student reflection time. However we do not have seating in this area of our classroom at this time. Allowing students to have a more comfortable choice for reading will make reading more enjoyable. By having the bean bags, cushions, and pillows available students will be more likely to stay engaged in their independent work. It can additionally aid in the deescalation of any highly sensitive interactions that may occur.
