Reading at the small teacher's table is a must. Kids spend time each day reading with me at my table and having wiggle seats will help them release energy while sitting and learning without needing to get up. I hope to increase the time they are able to spend at the small group table and in turn increase their reading skills and abilities.
A part of my choice is headphones for the students. Let's face it, teachers never have enough headphones. These are important for the kids to use while working on the computer doing their many class, district, and state assessments.
The last part of this mix is the Wonders Workshop Dash Robots. I use Dash Robots for teaching math, reading, and social studies. With math I have the kids program the robots to a specific point where they then answer a math question before they can move on. The kids work in teams and they race each other through the maze while answering math questions. We have also programmed for social studies. The kids have made maps of the city we live in and then the robots must travel the city. The robots have stops to make in the city and the kids will answer questions about their city at each stop. Students will need the ability to code as they get older. I am helping to set them up for a future in the workforce while having them see the endless possibilities they can create. These two additional Dash Robots will help me have smaller groups which are more advantageous to learning.
