For my third grade classroom, I am asking for donors to assist me in providing the most comfortable classroom environment for my possible fifty students. One of the items is a rug that will be large enough to accommodate all students at our meeting area in the classroom. Each day our class starts the morning with reading, whether it be as a group, or independently. Students need a comfortable and inviting area to continue to motivate them to be curious and strong readers. We also meet in this area for classroom discussions and to complete activities where students are working in teams. Students may choose to use our class carpet as an area to play games or complete classwork throughout all subjects. By finding a rug with a map of the United States, I can also implement this area into our social studies time. Third grade social studies standards focus greatly on map skills and regions of the United States. By donating to our project, you will help students feel appreciated and comfortable as they step into the classroom each day ready to learn. This is why the second item I am asking for in the classroom is a set of bouncy bands. These wrap around student chairs and are a way for students to bounce out some of their energy! Some students are able to learn better if they're able to release movements and incorporate physical activity within their school day.
