My goal is for students to incorporate current technology to enrich their learning experience with regular, every day class supplies. Since we have access to a class set of tablets, I would like for students to simulate a collaborative film crew and create an artistic version of a historical topic through film, taking the process from the start of research to the finished published product.
They will use an online movie software while using their tablets as the means of production and publishing ,which will give them a chance to experience the role of being authors and producers and see their work on the screen. Students begin with research and follow with written scripts for their video as well. I want them to create storyboards using the paper, pastels, colored pencils, markers, letters, glitter, etc. to guide them with their movies.
The camera will ve used to take video or pictures that students will use for their films. They will then edit the video and finally upload and share their projects on our school website. I would also like the posters and banners to decorate my classroom and the vinyl lettering for students to create their own designs for their posters. I really believe that visual communication is a key skill students will need if they are going to be college and career ready and will help bring history alive for my 6th graders.

This project will allow students to become more engaged and prepare them for the workplace. Twenty-first century learners need to compete successfully both in high school and in their futures which is why this project deserves funding.
