The paper, pencils, coloring utensils, and pencil sharpener will make a huge difference in my students' lives because supplies will be one less thing that they need to worry about. Urban school students often have adult responsibilities at home, and they have so many other things to worry about than bringing a pencil to class. By providing a student with something as simple as a pencil, it shows the student that I have compassion and empathy for them. It shows that I can understand that not everything is perfect at home and they need some help to be successful. It shows that I BELIEVE in them!

About my class
