Developing technological skills is important in this day and age. AVID students need to have access to the latest technology in order to be successful academically, and to be competitive for future college placement. I have used Google Classroom with my AVID students and I find them to be focused, engaged, and enthusiastic about learning during the limited time we have access to Chromebooks. Gaining these skills not only will prepare them to be successful in high school and in college, but will encourage them to be life-long learners. Having 4 Chromebooks in my classroom would allow my students to review for quizzes and exams, work on school projects and academic assignments, communicate with their teachers, and practice their technological skills. They would have access before, during, and after school, which would increase motivation and give these students a consistent place where they would receive academic support in all of their content area classes.
