There are so many resources on the Internet to help students improve their math skills, but without a computer that the students can use, our resources are going unused. I teach Algebra I to high school students in a small school district. Our high school has become a member of the "high schools that work" program. The Algebra I classes that I teach are all college prep. However, of the 57 students that I have, 14 of those students are in the special services program. All of the students have very low MAP scores and are extremely weak in their basic skills. We have programs and on-line resources to help these students, but I only have one computer in my room. If I had a laptop (or netbook) that the students could share and move around, we would be able to take advantage of the resources that are available to our students.
