The student computers in my classroom are nearly ten years old, and regularly break. This leaves my students without reliable access to learning programs, word processing, and research databases which would enhance their learning. My curious 5th graders need functional technology to help them explore their world. With new computers, my students will be able to research issues we are studying. They will learn life skills like typing and word processing which will help them to be successful in the future both in school, and beyond the classroom. New computers would allow my students to explore topics they are passionate about and complete projects both independently and collaboratively. Additionally, the book I am requesting will help me to improve my skills as a teacher for these creative, diverse learners and their families.
